Case study
BCU STEAMhouse
PR supporting start-ups

I would definitely recommend BCU STEAMhouse. Definitely. Definitely.
Through them I joined Kinetic’s webinar. That DNA session was a game-changer for me.

The difference
BCU STEAMhouse started as an idea to inspire collaboration and knowledge sharing in small businesses across science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM).
This meant providing better, innovative support for local start-ups, entrepreneurs and creatives in these sectors.
In two years, they registered 400 STEAMhouse community members and provided them with technical, business and artistic support.
They got started with:
- A clearly defined identity – using their DNA to set out their mission and get local businesses on board
- A six-month communications plan setting out BCU STEAMhouse’s messages, target personas and content themes going forward
- A set of measurable objectives to track and evaluate their progress.
PR that brings staff together
BCU STEAMhouse needed a strong starting point to kick off their marketing and communications – and a full toolbox to keep the momentum going for years to come.
Kinetic helped futureproof their business by:
- Defining STEAMhouse’s DNA – identifying what made them stand out with a unique mission, vision and code of conduct
- Identifying potential clients – building client personas to solidify their target audience and get their message to the right people
- Developing a marketing strategy – creating a communications plan that would take BCU STEAMhouse forward
- Leading consultancy sessions – holding a series of sessions with local start-ups connected through BCU STEAMhouse, helping them define their own DNA and messages.
What the businesses say...

I would definitely recommend BCU STEAMhouse. Definitely. Definitely.
Through them I joined Kinetic’s webinar: Building your brand DNA. That really focused things for me. So much so, I’m just about to land a £20K fee. Initially it was for minor works at a hotel but it’s now escalated into a few million pounds worth of development.
Not just that, the client’s introduced me to other developers and a builder looking to develop seven luxury bespoke homes. That DNA session was a game-changer for me.
