The serious stuff…

Although this gives my age away, I have a 40-plus year track record in the PR/communications industry.  I’ve worked in consultancy and in-house, primarily on BTB with a little consumer thrown in from time to time and I am editor of the membership magazine for a national charity.

Career highlights:

  • Persuading the senior tax partner of a major accountancy firm to
wear a red nose when speaking at a tax seminar in the first year of Comic Relief – made front page of The Birmingham Post.
  • Every time I see technical copy I have written appearing in print.
  • Playing sheepdog to a Russian choir when there was booze around.

Personality profile

Honest – I like to play it straight and when I don’t think an idea or angle will work, will say so.  Perceptive, hard-working and able to build relationships.

Admires most

Different people in different spheres – Maya Angelou as a writer/poet, Carl Hester as a superb horseman, Charlie Waite as a photographer.

Extraordinary talent

I once qualified my horse for the National Sidesaddle Championships.
